Children’s Heart Surgery Fund provides support for babies, children and adults born with Congenital Heart Defects in the Yorkshire, Humberside and North Lincolnshire region. Patients are treated at the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit based at Leeds General Infirmary.
The charity provides vital support to patients and their families, aiming to make the experiences of the heart surgery unit a more positive one and helping the whole family to cope and build resilience for the long and emotional journey they often face through surgery and treatments. Children’s Heart Surgery Fund support the ‘Heart, Mind, Family and Future’ of congenital heart disease patients across the region.
In June 2022, the Congenital Cardiology Intervention Team at Leeds Congenital Heart Unit were able to perform a pioneering procedure, the first of its kind in Europe, thanks in part to donations made to Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, which is wholly funded by public donations.
Such donations enable the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit to give the best treatment to 17,000 babies, children, teenagers and adults living with congenital heart disease each year.
Matt Pugh, founder and Managing Partner said “We are absolutely delighted to pledge our support to the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund in 2023. The charity relies heavily on fundraising from the local community and businesses to be able to provide the invaluable services it delivers. Every penny we are able to raise will make a huge difference and go a long way to supporting its worthy mission.”
In recognition of the incredible work that Children’s Heart Surgery Fund does, 2023 will see our colleagues taking part in a variety of activities to support and raise money for the charity. If you’d like to support us on our journey, you can donate on our JustGiving page here.
